As if WWE hadn’t been eventful enough for reggaeton, with Bad Bunny’s remarkable Booker T performance and unexpected debut in the wrestling world, the turn now was for Oasis pal J Balvin.
Last Saturday night (Feb. 27), the Colombian sensation J Balvin, walked his friend and fighter Canelo Alvarez into the boxing ring against Avni Yildirim at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami.
All iced out as per usual, the Colombian superstar premiered the first track of his new upcoming album also named “Ma’ G”, followed by a ring walk with professional boxer Canelo, whilst performing his global hit “Mi Gente”.
Speaking to Rolling Stone, Balvin said: “This new album is all about me. It’s the first time I’m going to talk about personal stuff. I’ve never done that before.”
“Ma’ G” is the artist’s latest single since last year’s anglo collaboration “Un Dia” with UK popstar Dua Lipa, ft. Bad Bunny and Tainy.
The video filmed in his hometown Medellin, pays tribute to the streets that saw him go from dreamchaser to now global reggaeton icon.
The track was released alongside a merch collection with two important brands from Medellin, Siete Cuatro Siete and La Plaga Invade that includes a varsity jacket, hoodie, sweat pants and face masks.
Balvin also announced that he will be releasing another song for Pokémon’s 25th anniversary Compilation Album, joining fellow Universal Group Music (UMG) artists Katy Perry and Post Malone.
