Rock N Roll…or shall we say Rock N Reggaeton! Never in a million years would rock fans have imagined ties between the two. Fast forward to 2021 and one of the most famous rock bands of all times (Metallica) have chosen Latinx talent amongst some of the biggest names in music, to reissue their self-titled album The Black Album (1991)

And although band member James Hetfield might have made fun of the reggaetonero back in 2016 (akward) for wearing a Metallica tee, J Balvin has always professed his love and fandom for the trash metal band. The Colombian superstar will transform the song “Wherever I May Roam” into a Latin trap tune, while Mexican rapper Gera MX comes together with Mexican Institute of Sound ft. La Perla to cover “Sad But True”.

Set to be released on September 10, The Metallica Blacklist features 12 cover songs and a lineup of 53 artists with a wide range of interpretations across different genres, all coming together to pay homage to the legendary album’s 30th anniversary. All of the proceeds will go towards 52 different charities chosen by the contributing artists.
