0

The nominees for this year’s Premios Lo Nuestro have been announced. On Tuesday (Jan. 12) American Spanish-language broadcaster Univision revealed the full list of 147 artists nominated across a total of 34 music categories, honouring urban, pop, tropical and regional Mexican genres.

Earning THE most and leading the way for the culture, was the man himself, J Balvin, with 14 nominations, followed by fellow made in Medellin reggaetonero Maluma who garnered 12, Camilo received 10 and Ozuna picked up eight.

Repping the females in the industry, Karol G and Natti Natasha, both with seven noms, along with Bad Bunny, Sebastian Yatra, and Sech who also earned seven each.

Four new categories were added to this year’s 33rd annual edition of the Latin music awards, including Urban album of the year, disputed by Sech (1-1), J Balvin (Colores), Ozuna (Nibiru), Maluma (Papi Juancho) and Bad Bunny (YHLQMDLG).

And so it seems, urban continues to dominate the Latin Music scene across other categories including Premio Lo Nuestro Artist Of The Year – with Bad Bunny, J Balvin, Karol G, Maluma, Natti Natasha and Ozuna, all nominated against pop artists Camilo, Sebastian Yatra and Mexican stars Alejandro Fernandez and Christian Nodal.

Ready to claim the Urban Male Artist Of The Year award are: Anuel, Bad Bunny, Daddy Yankee, Farruko, J Balvin, Maluma, Ozuna and Sech. As for the ladies, the Urban Female Artist Of The Year award will see Anitta, Becky G, Cazzu, Ivy Queen, Karol G, Natti Natasha, Paloma Mami and la Rosalia! all up against each other.

The ceremony set to air live via Univision on Thursday, Feb. 18 at 7:00 pm ET will be held at the AmericanAirlines Arena in Miami, where new musical premieres, exclusive collaborations and special tribute performances will be expected to take place all under one roof.

About Rosalía:

Rosalía is a Grammy & Eight-Time Latin Grammy Winner who has quickly “leapt to the forefront of the global pop landscape” on the strength of her innovative musical fusions and distinctive style.  She has repeatedly shattered barriers for both female and Spanish language artists, while being widely hailed as: “a complicated genius … reflecting femininity and strength… a new generation leader…making Flamenco a global phenomenon… while becoming Earth’s Most Exciting Pop Star.” With the May 2018 release of Rosalía’s innovative breakthrough single “Malamente (Cap.1: Augurio)” – and the fall arrival of her landmark album “El Mal Querer,” fans worldwide quickly embraced Rosalía’s phenomenal vocal capability meshed with her now fully realized fusion of classic Flamenco and other timeless music styles of Spain, with R&B, hip-hop, contemporary Latin-American rhythms and electronic beats. Coupled with Rosalía’s strong influences from industrial visual arts, female empowerment, fashion and choreography, it became clear to critics that: “El Mal Querer is a boundary-breaking modern masterpiece … that has resonated like a shockwave… it stands out from virtually everything else on the global pop landscape.”

As a result of the album’s long-running impact, and additional 2019 singles that followed, Rosalía garnered a GRAMMY Award, standout GRAMMY performance, the historic first-ever Best New Artist Grammy nomination for a Spanish Language artist, and eight Latin Grammys, including Album of the Year. Additional acclaim has included 2 MTV VMA’s, multiple magazine covers-including the annual Sunday New York Times Magazine’s special Culture Cover, highly praised Coachella and Lollapalooza festival appearances, the most watched global YouTube video of 2019 for a female artist, and “Best Music of the Decade” picks from Rolling Stone, Billboard, GQ, The LA Times, Pitchfork and more. While Rosalía has spent a large majority of time immersed in the creative process of writing and recording her eagerly-awaited next album, she also finalized landmark brand partnerships with Nike and MAC’s “Viva Glam” campaign, lead the field of LATIN GRAMMY winners for the second year in a row became the first-ever all-Spanish language music artist to grace the COVER of VOGUE in the United States (with the January 2021 “Vogue Values” issue, photographed by Annie Leibovitz), and joined Travis Scott, Bad Bunny, the Weeknd, Billie Eilish, Arca, Tokisha and more on massive streaming collaborative tracks. She now begins her next creative chapter with the music of MOTOMAMI.

What Happened To Feid’s London Show?

0

During the past month, everyone has been asking what happened to Feid’s London Show.

According to one of his Instagram posts mentioning the Europe tour, London was included as one of the cities he was performing in, London’s turn was going to be on 13th Aug. So what happened?

London reggaeton has spoken directly to Feid’s management and booking who confirmed availability for the show on the due date, however an agreement to make the show happen was not met, furthermore other Reggaeton London local promoters showed interest in making the show happen but according to confidential sources it was already late for the artist to accommodate dates for UK visas and logistics to be executed due to his busy Spanish tour schedules.

As Local promoters including us London Reggaeton have not announced the show, the show won’t be treated as a Cancelation as tickets to the relevant event did not release for sale.

Sorry to all Feid’s London Fans who waited a long time to see the artist perform, we hope to have better news for you soon.

London Reggaeton.

Karol G’s only stop in Europe

Fans around the world and Europe have been waiting for the Colombian artist “Karol G” to arrive in Europe this year 2022, Unfortunately, Karol G would only perform in 1 city as a single and only stop in Europe this summer.

According to respected sources, the artist wants to bring a massive quality show to her Europe fans but due to her tight schedule in recording sessions and USA tour dates, she will need more time to prepare what she has been planning for this particular audience.

It’s not all bad news of Karol is not performing in your city this year, you can get tickets to Valencia. As confirmed by the ‘Bichota,’ one of the most powerful Latin artists of the moment, her participation in the Diversity Festival will be her only show in Europe. It will be on July 23, and she will share the bill with big names like Black Eyed Peas, H.E.R., Don Diable, LP, Rag’n’Bone, Cupido, Jimena Amarilla and others.

The young singer from Medellín will perform at the Ciutat de les Arts y les Ciències, and will be the urban artist who will attract the most attention. Christina Aguilera, Nicki Nicole or Ozuna will also perform, and historical references such as Iggy Pop. As usual with Summer festivals, it will be a musical potpourri for all tastes, marked by the suffocating heat of the Valencian Summer. In total, there will be more than 50 performances between July 21 and 23.

Karol G visits Spain three years after her last performance in the country, and she arrives at likely the best moment of her career. One of her latest hits, “Provenza,” is number 1 on the World Top Video Clips, as well as number one on the U.S. Hot Latin Songs.

The Diversity Festival of Valencia will be Karol G’s only stop in Europe

Latin music’s global explosion

AS BAD BUNNY SMASHES APPLE MUSIC RECORDS, HIS MANAGER NOAH ASSAD SAYS LATIN MUSIC WILL ‘KEEP GROWING’

There’s “no stopping” Latin Music. The words of Rimas Entertainment CEO Noah Assad, manager of independent Puerto Rican superstar Bad Bunny, speaking to MBW.

Assad’s comments come a month after MBW predicted that the recorded music market for Latin artists in the United States would generate more than $1 billion in revenue across the 12 months of 2022.

Today, we can reveal further proof of the Latin music sector’s stratospheric rise.

Latin music just scored its biggest ever week by streams worldwide on Apple Music, for the week ending Friday, May 13, thanks to the release of two blockbuster albums, one from Bad Bunny and one from Música Mexicana star Eslabon Armado.

In the same week (to Thurs, May 12), the wider Latin genre achieved its highest ever weekly streaming total in the US (across all platforms) of 1.82 billion on-demand audio (ODA) streams, according to Luminate data.

That 1.82 billion ODA total was enough to leapfrog Latin music above Country music as the US’s fourth-biggest streaming genre (behind hip-hop, rock and pop).

With 328 million first week ODA streams, Bad Bunny’s Un Verano Sin Ti was responsible for nearly 1 in 5 (~18%) of all Latin genre streams that took place in the US during the chart week in question (ending May 12).

Now, speaking with MBW, Rimas Entertainment CEO Noah Assad says he predicts Latin music will “keep on growing”.

He adds simply: “There’s no stopping it, you know? There’s no stopping it.”

In the week ending May 13, Un Verano Sin Ti, Bad Bunny’s fourth studio album, broke the record for the highest first-week streams worldwide for a Latin album in Apple Music history.

The artist also broke the first-week streaming record for a Latin song on Apple Music worldwide with Moscow Mule.

Eslabon Armado’s NOSTALGIA, meanwhile,  broke the first-week streaming record worldwide for a Música Mexicana album.

On Friday May 6, Latin Music accounted for 31 of the songs on Apple Music’s global Daily Top 100, a record for the genre. The previous record was 21 Latin songs, upon the release of Bad Bunny’s YHLQMDLG.

(Bad Bunny logged 22 songs on Apple‘s global Daily Top 100 on May 6, breaking the record for most entries by a single Latin artist.)

Latin music’s global explosion – and of course Bad Bunny’s global success – obviously hasn’t been an isolated Apple Music event.

Spotify has already confirmed that on Friday, May 6, Bad Bunny became the all-time most-streamed artist globally on its platform in a single day, racking up 183 million streams within 24 hours.

Bad Bunny was also named as the most-streamed artist in the world on Spotify for the second year in a row in 2021, achieving that feat without even releasing an album last year.

Rimas Entertainment is a self-described independent “music powerhouse” that encompasses a label and artist management.

It was launched by Assad in 2014, and in addition to Bad Bunny, Rimas’ roster includes streaming superstars like Jowell & Randy, Arcángel, Eladio Carrión and more.

Bad Bunny signed with Assad’s Rimas in 2016, and in 2020, Rimas released three of his albums – YHLQMDLG, LAS QUE NO IBAN A SALIR, and EL ÚLTIMO TOUR DEL MUNDO – the latter of which became the first all Spanish album to hit No.1 on Billboard’s Top 200.

Assad tells MBW that “everything we did with Rimas was out of love and out of passion for music, never thinking about how big it could get”.

He adds: “While we were just so busy working, and so involved, and so invested into what we love to do, we are now realizing everything amazing that’s been happening around us.”

“EVERYTHING WE DID WITH RIMAS WAS OUT OF LOVE AND OUT OF PASSION FOR MUSIC, NEVER THINKING ABOUT HOW BIG IT COULD GET.”

NOAH ASSAD, RIMAS ENTERTAINMENT

Rimas Entertainment’s distribution for all of Bad Bunny’s albums has been handled by The Orchard. Rimas also struck a new global deal with The Orchard in June 2021 covering its catalog material and new projects.

Speaking to MBW,  The Orchard’s CEO, Brad Navin, says: “Rimas and The Orchard’s partnership is about constantly rethinking music release strategies with the fan always top of mind, as well as emphasizing that boundaries no longer exist and great music transcends language.”

He adds: “Latin music has always been a varied and strong segment of the industry, with genres gaining traction outside Spanish speaking markets. Now, Bad Bunny is leading mainstream global culture, through authenticity, connectivity and his incredible talent.”

“BAD BUNNY IS LEADING MAINSTREAM GLOBAL CULTURE, THROUGH AUTHENTICITY, CONNECTIVITY AND HIS INCREDIBLE TALENT.”

BRAD NAVIN, THE ORCHARD

According to Apple Music, streams for Latin have more than doubled on its platform over the past three years.

Musica Mexicana, in particular, has been one of the fastest-growing genres on Apple Music worldwide, growing over 150% over the past three years.

Apple Music says that plays for many Latin editorial playlists, meanwhile, have seen triple-digit growth in the past year, including Por Siempre Hits and Puro Pop, up 229% and 127% respectively.

Speaking to MBW about Bad Bunny’s success on Apple Music specifically, manager Noah Assad says that, “Apple’s been very invested into his career since day one”.

He adds: “They always double, [even] triple down on him. [Apple] always understanding him has been very important. As well as understanding his creativity, and understanding his art ethic, [they understand] when he has something on his mind.

“[Apple] always help him achieve what he has in mind and it’s always a cross-collaboration with them. We’re very happy with the partnership and we hope to be [partners for] many years to come.”

According to Apple Music, several other Latin music records have been broken on its platform this year.

In March, for example, Rosalía broke the record for the biggest first-week worldwide for a female Latin album with her third studio album, MOTOMAMI.

In February, Becky G. and KAROL G broke the record for the biggest first-week worldwide for an all-female Latin collaboration with their song MAMIII.

In March, Yahritza Y Su Esencia broke the record for the biggest first-week streams worldwide for a Música Mexicana song with Soy El Unico.  It was also the biggest debut single in the genre’s history and the biggest first week for a female Música Mexicana single.

In April, Yahritza Y Su Esencia broke the record for the most first-week streams worldwide for a debut Música Mexicana EP, with the 5-track Obsessed EP.
